Iceland, the adventures of Four Photographers

If you are planning a trip to Iceland, tonight’s talk from four of our photographers about their adventures there a year ago will make you well aware of the beauty of the island but also of the rapidly changing conditions in the weather. They explained how being prepared to be flexible was pivotal to the trip.

Frank, Robert, Sue and Caroline talked us through their adventure with some amusing anecdotes and showed some amazing images taken in various locations as well as some video clips of blizzards and snowploughs. They also showed some aurora images that were more spectacular than I have ever seen before - what a treat it must have been to have seen that in the flesh.  The overriding feeling though from them all was that it had been one of the most amazing experiences they had had with several of them saying they would return in a heart beat & do it all over again despite the cold weather they endured for the whole 10 days.  Caroline said she had never been so cold in all her life at times despite the number of layers they all wore all feeling like ‘The Michelin Man’ most of the time.  They said afterwards that they hoped everybody had got a feel of what they had experienced in Iceland.

Despite being snowbound in hotels a couple of times and missing their planned departure by a couple of days, again due to bad weather, they had an amazing time and seem to want to go back and do it all over again!

Thank you Frank, Robert, Sue and Caroline for a very entertaining evening. BC & SW
