Annual Landscape Competition

This Tuesday the Club held its Annual Landscape Competition, judged by Peter Orr ARPS. Peter judged 41 projected images from 16 entrants, and 18 prints from 6 entrants.

The Derrick Turner Memorial trophy was awarded to Robert Harvey for the best projected image of Cwm Idwal in Winter in Snowdonia. Second prize went to Jane Wiltshire for Sunrise at Lyn Pardarn Lake. Third prize went to Craig Purvis for his Woodborough Frosty Sunrise.

The Silver Birches Trophy, donated by Robert Harvey, for the best landscape print, was won by Robert Harvey’s Frosty Sunrise, Bristol Avon. The winner also took second place with his Sunset, Porlock Marsh, and third place with Sunrise at Hartland Quay. A remarkable clean sweep.

Of the two winning images, Peter commended Robert for them both giving the feeling that the viewer could step into the scene in front of them.

Peter also made a wide variety of helpful suggestions on techniques and processing to improve images that were lacking, giving us all ideas to go away with to improve our photography.
