The Macro World

Wow! What a start to our season of speaker meetings at Devizes Photography club!

Stewart Wood gave a most amusing and informative introduction to his world of macro photography last night. He showed us the learning process in four easy steps, from using folded paper and coloured lighting, creative water droplets, indoor (pet) jumping spiders, outdoor macro photography and finally the technical world of focus bracketing and stacking.

He is passionate about capturing the intricate beauty that lies within the small and often overlooked aspects of the natural world. Through his lens, he reveals a hidden universe that exists right before our eyes, inviting you to appreciate the extraordinary details that are easily missed in our fast-paced lives. Some of Stewart’s images are truly amazing to see, showing such minute detail of the subject complete with refractions in the dew drops on the body.

No wonder we had such crowd in the club last night as well as some members watching on Zoom.

I’m looking forward to seeing results of our members’ experiments in the Macro and Close-up competition later in the season.

You can find more information on Stewart on his website and his youtube channel. BC
