At the Special Interest Group meeting we discussed a weekend away to Brighton in January 2025. Brighton has a lot to offer photographically including
Architecture: Brighton Pavilion, The Lanes plus hundred of beach huts at Hove which should light up with the rising or setting sun in January
Landscape/Seascapes including Cuckmere Haven , Seven Sisters, and the South Downs National Park, plus plenty of opportunities for Seascapes all along the coast especially at Newhaven and 2 piers in Brighton , the west Pier is derelict but lends itself to long exposure images. There are several windmills within a few miles the have sails so would make good feature within a landscape image or could perhaps be the foreground interest for a star trail image. There is also a pier and lighthouse at Newhaven
Street photography Brighton is a blend of traditional Seaside resort and bustling urban sprawl, there are many interesting character ,including buskers and street performers. There is always something happening.
Starling Murmerations: Brighton is home to one of the biggest Staring murmurations in the country, during the winter months , tens of thousands of starlings gather every day at Sunset to roost under one of the piers, often flying between the two piers and they will “dance" in the sky forming the most mesmerising patterns as they fly.
So there does appear to be plenty to keep us busy in the area for a few days.
