At our next SIG meeting on 6th February 2025 , Caroline has arranged for Eddy Lane to come and talk to us about entering our images in Photographic Salons/ Exhibitions and the wider benefits of this.
A Photographic Salon is a competition - usually under the patronage of FIAP (Federation International de l’Art Photographique or International Federation of Photographic Art.) and an acceptance allows your image to be entered into the exhibition
Salons would allow us individually , a wider audience for our images. As many of our club competitions are over subscribed at the moment this might be another outlet for your hard work.
Robert Harvey has said that he finds salon acceptances easier to obtain than placings in club competitions! You can enter images that have been previously submitted for club competitions or ones you may wish to enter at a later date.
There are classes for both digital and print work and a cost- between £15 and £30 approx depending on how many categories you enter. The entry for images is similar to photo entry although it will be your responsibility (and expense ) to send your print images.
Just be aware that the required image sizes may be differ to club competitions
This is something Caroline has thought about for a while so she is going to enter these two and see how she gets on, let me know if you are interested and if you need any help with submissions.
2 salons you may wish to enter are the Bristol Salon and the Southampton Salon.
