We are delighted to welcome Huw Alban back to Devizes. Huw explores why the dialogue between him and the subject is so important, and also how he includes the results of that dialogue in his own images.
Rather than blind the audience with lengthy psychological theories Huw illustrates what he has done and why with a series of examples, with each explaining what was in his head at the time, and how that has influenced the final result. You can see more from Huw on his website.
Additionally he will show how an awareness of the state of mind of the photographer can have a huge impact on the look of the final image produced. For his own image making this has moved him from creating good images to creating pictures that talk to the viewer and (hopefully) generate an emotional reaction. He will also illustrate how just being aware of simple concepts, for example the orientation of the camera can influence how others react to your pictures.
This is a light hearted exploration of his own creative process, broken down into simple concepts, which should appeal to all levels of photographer and artist, no matter what their individual subject interest.
