Brownsea Island

On Sunday 27th October 11 Club members made the journey to Poole Quay  to catch the boat across the harbour to Brownsea Island for a day photographing the Flora and Fauna on the Island. The weather was dry and bright with temperatures in the mid teens, which was very pleasant.
The Red Squirrels were abundant in their usual haunt behind the church, but they are very fast and tricky to capture in the low light conditions but I think everyone managed a few images, while we were there a couple of Sika deer were walking and feeding in the area, apparently undeterred by the many photographers and visitors to the Island. We also visited a couple of the hides on the lagoon to photograph the birds. We saw Spoonbills , a greenshank ,several white Egrets and plenty of ducks. Many of the group took advantage of the cafe on the island for refreshments while we were there and almost all of the group caught the 3pm ferry back to the mainland for the journey home.
I was good to see new members out and about with us for  a very successful outing”
